How to text employees from a computer
If you’re at the office computer writing the schedule anyway, thumbing the same update into your phone is a waste. Here are the ways to text from a keyboard — and the one catch most of them share.
1. Messages on a Mac
If you have an iPhone and a Mac signed into the same Apple Account, the Messages app on your Mac can send iMessages and — with Text Message Forwarding turned on — regular texts through your phone. It’s free and it’s the same conversations you see on your phone.
2. Google Messages for web
Android users can pair Google Messages with a browser at messages.google.com and send texts from the computer. Your phone stays the actual sender, so it needs to be on and connected.
3. Phone Link on Windows
Windows’ Phone Link mirrors texts from a paired phone. It works best with Android; iPhone support is more limited, especially for group messages.
4. A web dashboard built for sending to a team
A broadcast tool is a web page: you type the message once, pick who it goes to, and it’s sent as individual texts from a business number. You can schedule it for later, read replies (in Airhorn, that’s Conversations on Plus), and hand the login to another manager. Nothing is mirrored from your phone, so your phone doesn’t need to be anywhere nearby.
| Method | Sends from | Group replies | Schedule for later | Other managers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Messages on Mac | Your number | Shared thread | Limited | No |
| Google Messages web | Your number | Shared thread | Limited | No |
| Phone Link | Your number | Shared thread | No | No |
| Broadcast dashboard | Business number | Private to you | Yes | Yes |
Common questions
Can I schedule a text to employees from my computer?
Built-in phone apps offer limited scheduling at best. In Airhorn you set a send time when you write the broadcast — useful for posting next week’s schedule reminder on a Sunday night without staying up for it.
Do employees need anything installed?
No. Whatever you send from, employees receive an ordinary text message.
Write it once, at a real keyboard
Airhorn runs in the browser: compose, schedule, and see replies from any computer. Employees just get a text.
Free for 7 days and 60 messages — no credit card. Your trial starts when you send your first broadcast, not when you sign up.
